Their food and service is amazing! This place is reminds me of Newport seafood, but with much more affordable prices and tastes even better because it has that homey vibe. Food is very very flavorful and portions are very large! Spacing is great and come early, because this place gets lit around 6pm. You definitely get your bang for your buck! Ps. Best green beans I've ever had. Better than dtf (din tai fung)

"Come visit us in San Gabriel, just off the main Boulevard! Our restaurant offers exceptional cuisine, with a focus on fresh lobster and fresh fish. Our waitresses are friendly, prompt, and courteous, ensuring a wonderful dining experience. Feel free to come as you are - we can't wait to welcome you!" Or, if you'd like a more concise version:

The spot to grab some delicious seafood in the SGV. They serve authentic Chinese/Vietnamese dishes and they have a lot of items on their menu. I found out on my visit that they are the only original Kim Tar location left as they sold the others! We got the House Special Lobster, French Style Beef (Bo Luc Lac), Clams with Basil Sauce, House Special Scallop, and Beef Chow Fun, as well as their Thai Tea! When they say House Special, definitely order it! The Lobster was so meaty and flavorful paired perfectly with the garlic noodles (MUST ADD), and the Scallop was seasoned and fried so well I enjoyed it a lot! Their French Style Beef was incredibly tender and I found myself continuously going back for more. The Clams and Chow Fun were definitely amazing as well - I loved all the dishes and can't wait to come back for more! A great spot to bring the whole family! They've done some renovations and the spot looks really modern and nice. Service was amazing and there's plenty of parking. Can't believe I haven't tried them before!

*** Cash prices displayed on the menu & 3% adjustment fee for non-cash payments *** Kim Tar Seafood Restaurant (established in 1983) is one of long standing Chinese-Vietnamese family style restaurants in Monterey Park. Honestly I had pretty low expectations, but my friend picked this place because he wanted to try few dishes. It seems like Kim Tar Seafood Restaurant started to actively manage IG page about a year ago and I always raise an eyebrow when I see claims like 'Best Chinese Restaurant in the San Gabriel Valley.' [Parking]: Easy and free plaza parking lot. [Service]: It was surprisingly efficient with no hiccups. Our party didn't have to wait in line at 6 PM on Saturday and food came on time. [Menu]: Breakfast items #1 - #9 serve until 5 PM (except holidays). Lunch special (11 AM to 3 PM except holidays) is $13.50 per item and includes steamed rice. Steam rice $1.75 per person (refillable). Additional $2 to substitute steamed rice to tomato rice/fried rice. There are over 100+ items on the menu, but some of popular dishes include #77 French Style Beef (Bo Luc Lac aka shaken beef), #64 House Special Shrimp, #58 House Special Scallops, or #44 House Special Lobster with Butter if you have a large party (+4 people) to share. No family style? No problem - check last few pages of the menu for individual stir fry noodle (#103 to #114) or rice dish (#115 to #128). Having pictures of popular or signature dishes were extremely helpful. *** #64 House Special Shrimp ($25): Amazing dish with crispy and savory shrimp. Soy sauce wasn't overwhelming and it paired extremely well with steamed rice. A must-order dish. #77 French Style Beef (Bo Luc Lac aka shaken beef - $23): Delicious and tender beef and flavor was on the point. One of the best shaken beef I have had in a long time and another must-order dish. #66 Salt & Pepper Fresh Squid ($22): It was probably my least favorite dish out of the three. Better eat this dish while still piping hot and the squid was a bit salty for my taste. *** S-tier dishes for #64 House Special Shrimp and #77 French Style Beef. Efficient service + no wait at 6 PM = surprisingly good dining experience. Personally, I recommend sticking to the dishes with pictures on the menu as they are usually a safe bet. P.S. - They have frog leg dishes!

Me and my family have been coming here for years . The food quality and taste is always consistent. Our go to is the French beef steak and house special fish filet. The fried tofu is also very crispy and good as well. The waiters here always treat us good and very friendly. They have recently renovated some areas so the restaurant looks and feels even better.

Every time I come here I always get their fried rice. They have the best fried rice that I ever had. Their yang chow fried rice which includes sausage and shrimp is my favorite out of them all.

The food quality here is very good. My friend was raving about this restaurant so I decided to check it out for myself. The Vietnamese hot and sour soup and house lobster were my top favorite. Service was also good. They kept renewing our plates and water which I appreciated.

Kim Tar Seafood Restaurant is a gem that I'm so glad I stumbled upon, shout-out to YouTube shorts of all places! This restaurant has been around for a while, but it was my first time hearing about it, and it won't be the last! We were able to try several dishes, all were part of their lunch special for just $13.50 each, a price you rarely see these days, especially for the quality and quantity of food provided. And of course, each meal came with complimentary white rice. The House Special Fillet Fish stood out as a surprise favorite for our group. It wasn't something I personally would typically order, but the crunchy exterior, perfectly cooked fish, and sweet honey sauce combination made it a must-have dish. The Salt and Pepper Squid was another highlight, crispy and seasoned just right. The String Beans, Steamed Chicken, and Watercress Vegetable were all fresh and flavorful. The Crispy Tofu, Clams in Black Bean Sauce, and Pan-Fried Rice Noodles were also delicious, rounding out our family meal. The restaurant also had a couple quotes on the wall like "Taste you'll remember" and "Count the memories, not the calories," which added a cute touch to the dining experience. For reference, they do charge a fee for credit card payments. But overall, Kim Tar Seafood is a restaurant we'll be returning to!
